Why did you come to NKU?

I applied to several schools for my master's, but NKU remained my first choice, as I believe in the core concepts, mission and philosophy of the School of Nursing and Health Professions and appreciate the incredible commitment to student success that the faculty have.

Describe your experiences and why it was a good idea to attend NKU:

My time at NKU has been full of ups and downs in my life, and the faculty support was a constant.  The faculty have mentored me and believed in me when I wasn't sure of myself.  I have been given opportunities to lead undergraduate students in Supplemental Instruction and serve the MSN program as a graduate assistant. Through these two positions, my learning was increased exponentially, and I feel prepared for any role I may take on after graduation.

How will attending NKU help your career?

NKU has given me tools to succeed in my career.  My MSN degree will open doors for me beyond staff nursing, allow me to advance my career and make a difference in the field of nursing and nursing education.

Talk about how NKU's classes fit in with your schedule. Were there other responsibilities you needed to work around?

Being able to take my MSN classes online made it possible for me to finish my degree while working full time and having a young family.  The online classes allowed me to work from home and on my time - keeping my family my first priority.

How well have you been able to interact with professors?

Each of the faculty members in the School of Nursing and Health Professions goes above and beyond to help shape and train the students who will be tomorrow's nurses and to mentor the future leaders of the profession.  Having professors that know me by name and have pushed and supported me was a key ingredient to my success.

How well have you been able to network while attending NKU?

The nursing program at NKU provides several opportunities to network through the clinical practicum process, the investigative project process and by just interacting with fellow students.
