Alternative Paths to Certification
Master of Arts in Teaching
This program is sesigned for individuals who do not hold a teaching certification but wish to earn licensure to teach in the K - 12 school system.
The MAT admits students for the fall term only. Applicants must go through a two step application process.

Alternative Certification in Special Education
The Alternative Certification in Special Education prepares individuals who are not certified teachers or qualify for certification to complete a teacher preparation program to work with Learning and Behavior Disorders.
Althought the courses are graduate level courses, it is a non-degree program. Student who complete the program are eligible to apply some of the coursework toward the Master of Arts in Education Teacher as Leader program at NKU.
The Alternative Certification program admits students for the summer term only.

Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Proficiency Evaluation
The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Proficiency Evaluation is designed for those with experience in working with children from birth to 2 years or 3 to 5 years who need their initial teacher licensure.
